Blossoms of Light

Just like a bud needs to open itself to turn into a flower, we need to open ourselves to what is unfamiliar if we are to reach towards the light.

The value of a life can’t be summed up by what we do. If that was the extent of it, there would be no value in a flower that blossoms where no one can see. But I believe that all things have worth and value because of what they are, not just what they do or produce. When asked who we are, it's easy to think that we are just artists, or creatives, or whatever else. But while that is definitely a part of who I am, it's not all that I am. I am more than that. I am more than what I do. There is a bright light that shines in all of us that can't be simply defined in words. And I want to grow towards that light, and into something “more.”

I want to open the buds of my heart so that they can blossom into flowers, creating beauty for all that pass by. I want to be the kind of person that keeps reaching towards the light. But the light is what we find when we look outside of our bubble of comfort and familiarity. So although it often scares me to stretch out toward it, I know that being open to that unfamiliarity is the only way to blossom. This piece is the inspiration I need to continually find the courage to step into the unfamiliar, and step into my true, inherent worth.
